The output of this group should be fully compatible with the letter and spirit of SNMP (RFC 1067) and CMOT (RFC 1095). Goals and Milestones: MAY 90 Develop, implement, and test mechanisms to prevent a managed entity from generating locally an excess of alerts to be controlled. This system will focus on how a protocol or MIB object might internally prevent itself from generating an unreasonable amount of information. DEC 90 Write an RFC detailing the above. Since the implementation of these mechanisms is protocol dependent, the goal of this RFC would be to offer guidance only. It would request a status of ``optional''. Done Write an RFC detailing the above, including examples of its conforment use with both SNMP traps and CMOT events. Done Develop, implement, and test protocols and mechanisms to prevent a managed entity from burdening a manager with an unreasonable amount of unexpected network management information. This will focus on controlling mechanisms once the information has been generated by a remote device. Internet-Drafts: No Current Internet-Drafts.
