I pretty much agree with your own comments. The image rouses some
level of repulsion in me. The skull is a bit large given the man in
the image. More contrast between the man and the walkway would have
been good.

I like this... the color and lighting give it a good mood.  
Trees look nice, and the randomness of the tiles works 
well.  The sky comes close to destroying the scene for 
me, though... I would've preferred something different, 
or even just blackness if necessary.  Still, nice scene 
overall.

"don't pay the ferryman..." - nice basement. i like the irregular plates but the trees should be more different (just at 3dsmax) - what's up behind the entrance ? out of wireframe ? ...for the trees: use treemaker (win), search wih google.com. enyoy.
