Excellent interpretation! The scene is quite odd, and the green is quite
controlling in the image. The bird flocks are an excellent feature. A 
couple of more details in the foreground would've helped, but even as it is,
I'll say you did a damn good job, especially knowing your tool selection.

closer ones seem a little thick and square-winged.

Intriguing.  Quite an expansive view.  Unusual color scheme.
I'd like to see more detail.  And less sharp edges (more craggy) where the 
"tops" and "bottoms" of the islands join.

Artistic - Quite nice for something all in greens.
Technical - The birds look a little to squarish in the wings.  It would be nice 
            for the birds if there were a few little bushes or something to
            roost in or perhaps find food in.
Concept - A wilderness of a sort.
