RustFig Copyright (c) 2026 The RustFig contributors RustFig is licensed under either of the Apache License, Version 2.0 (LICENSE-APACHE) or the MIT license (LICENSE-MIT), at your option. RustFig is a Rust reimplementation of xfig. Its behaviour follows xfig's documentation and sources, and parts of it are ported from xfig and fig2dev (https://mcj.sourceforge.net/). xfig and fig2dev are (c) 1985-1988 Supoj Sutanthavibul, (c) 1991 Micah Beck, and Brian V. Smith, Paul King, Thomas Loimer and other contributors, under the xfig licence (SPDX: Xfig), which permits use, modification, sublicensing and redistribution provided the copyright and permission notice remain intact. That notice is reproduced in LICENSE-xfig, which also lists every RustFig file derived from xfig or fig2dev with its sources; each of those files names its sources in a comment and points to LICENSE-xfig. The bundled manual (docs/manual/) is written for RustFig and adapts parts of xfig's HTML manual (doc/html/), under the same xfig licence and notice. X-splines are implemented from the published paper: C. Blanc and C. Schlick, "X-Splines: A Spline Model Designed for the End User", SIGGRAPH '95. Assets ------ This repository contains no image, icon or font files. Fill patterns and colour tables are generated in code; the mode panel icons are xfig's bitmaps from w_icons.c, kept as byte arrays in source code under the xfig licence (see ASSETS.md and LICENSE-xfig). The attribute pictures are also drawn as vectors in code (ui-egui/src/vector_icons.rs), RustFig's own work after xfig's compositions, and xfig's mode icons are traced as vectors (ui-egui/src/mode_icons.rs). The application icon is an original drawing generated in code (ui-egui/src/app_icon.rs), MIT OR Apache-2.0. Fonts used at run time ---------------------- - Key symbols (⌘ ⇧ ⌥ ⌃ ⌫ ⎋ ↩ ⇥): assets/fonts/rustfig-key-symbols.ttf, a subset of Noto Sans Symbols 2, Noto Sans Symbols and Noto Sans Math (Copyright 2022 The Noto Project Authors, SIL Open Font License 1.1, assets/fonts/OFL.txt), renamed "RustFig Key Symbols"; embedded as the last fallback font. - Optional, not bundled: TeX Gyre fonts (GUST Font License) that the user installs from CTAN with Help > Install TeX Gyre fonts…; the licence is unpacked next to them. - Fallback: Ubuntu Light (Ubuntu Font Licence 1.0) and Hack (MIT/Bitstream Vera licence), bundled inside the `epaint_default_fonts` crate (a dependency, MIT OR Apache-2.0), used for canvas and bitmap text. PDF pictures are read by fig2dev with the hayro crates (hayro, hayro-interpret, hayro-syntax, hayro-write, by Laurenz Stampfl; MIT OR Apache-2.0) and their permissive dependencies; see fig2dev's NOTICE and Cargo.lock. The system clipboard for Copy as picture uses the clipboard-rs crate (ChurchTao; MIT OR Apache-2.0) and its platform dependencies. Third-party Rust crates are used under their own licences (MIT, Apache-2.0, BSD, Zlib and similar permissive licences); see Cargo.lock.
