Short: PhotoEdges v0.5 (Organic PhotoEdges for ImageFX) Author: polymrph@polyphoto.com (Steve Greenfield) Uploader: polymrph polyphoto com (Steve Greenfield) Type: gfx/ifx Requires: ImageFX Architecture: generic Version 0.5 Long: PhotoEdges v0.5 (Emailware/Visitware) By: Polymorph Digital Photography Steve Greenfield polymrph@polyphoto.com www.polyphoto.com Contents: PhotoEdges.readme 3,508bytes PhotoEdges01.eps 78,288bytes PhotoEdges02.eps 43,131bytes PhotoEdges03.eps 99,797bytes These are some EPS's that I created to make organic looking edges on photos. I wanted something that: 1. wouldn't take up much space on the HD 2. are scalable to very large sizes easily 3. didn't require any programming 4. aren't these enough? Oh, yeah, and look nice. As this requires loading EPS files, you'll need ImageFX 2.6 or later, or another program that can load EPS's and save out as bitmaps. Instructions: A. Load the picture you want the border onto, and swap buffers so that it is in the secondary. B. Load one of the PhotoEdgesXX.eps into ImageFX. It will ask for a size, you must pick a size based on an 8x10 inch picture, alter the dpi selected along with the pixel size for proper results. Select a size so that it is as close to the size of the picture in the secondary buffer as possible. C. Run "Convolve"/"Blur" set to 16 (max). D. Rotate or scale to match the aspect ratio of the picture in the other buffer. E. Run "Composite"/"Absolute Add" at 100%. That is it, you're done. Note: These are all set up as Portrait 8x10 inch size, just rotate them after loading for landscape. For ease of size selection, cut and paste the following into your "Default.presets" file. Save a backup first! ----snip---- ; Photo presets 800 1000 1 1 100 100 "8x10: 100dpi" 1200 1500 1 1 150 150 "8x10: 150dpi" 1600 2000 1 1 200 200 "8x10: 200dpi" 2000 2500 1 1 250 250 "8x10: 250dpi" 2400 3000 1 1 300 300 "8x10: 300dpi" 3200 4000 1 1 400 400 "8x10: 400dpi" 4000 5000 1 1 500 500 "8x10: 500dpi" 4800 6000 1 1 600 600 "8x10: 600dpi" ----snip---- For beginners at this, here is an example of how to size and rotate the PhotoEdges for a given picture: A. The picture is going to be printed on 8.5x14 inch paper, actual print size will be 8x13 inch at 300dpi, therefore it is 2400x3900 pixel size. Load and transfer to the secondary button by hitting "j". B. Load "PhotoEdges01.eps". Select the closest size selection in pixels from the above list. In this case that would be 3200x4000 (although the next one down, 2400x3000 would be acceptable). Hit OK. C. After it is done loading (this may take a while) Simple Rotate 90 or -90 degrees. D. Resize/Ignore Aspect to 2400x3900 pixels. E. Convolve/Blur set to 16. D. Then run Composite/Absolute Add at 100% and when it is done you will see your picture appear where-ever black was before. And of course run Carl Licke's ARexx scripts "Shadow.ifx" or "SmearShadow.ifx" with the "Magic Scissors" button checked for an even cooler look.
