Brief description ----------------- NetGate is a gateway utility which allows you to use your Fidonet newsreader to read Internet e-mail and UseNet news. It runs on top of AmiTCP or Miami and transfers mail and news to and from your Internet provider. As such it has a function similar to TrapDoor (familiar to those with a Fidonet background), although in practice the two operate very differently. Here is a brief list of features: * Reads and writes FTSC-1 compliant (*.PKT/*.OUT) mail and news bundles. * Sends and receives mail and news directly from your provider's mail and news daemons. No intermediate, third party software required. * Advanced UseNet news filtering * MIME compatible, including quoted-printable and base64 * Session retrieve limits (configurable per newsgroup) * Moderated newsgroups * Advanced stripping/kludging of UseNet header information * Configurable, highly detailed logging * Handles special UseNet headers like X-FTN-To: * Full support for mailing lists. * Full support for incoming and outgoing file attachments! * Spam filtering * Automatic, configurable notification of new newsgroups on your news server. * Utility to keep you notified of new, incoming e-mail * Much more! :-) NetGate is shareware. The demo version is fully functional but imposes a few limitations to encourage registration. Shareware fee is $20. Changes since the last version ------------------------------ - Automatic notification of new newsgroups - Improved log output - NNTP authentication - Support for file attachments - Fewer restrictions when running unregistered - Numerous minor and major bugs have been identified and fixed.
