Title: David Black's Statement about possible IPR claimed in draft-ietf-rddp-mpa belonging to Broadcom Corporation Received: 6 July, 2004 From: David Black Please post the following notice received from Broadcom on the IETF Page of Intellectual Property Rights Notices. Thanks, --David (RDDP WG Chair) -----Original Message----- From: Shannon Tyson [mailto:styson@broadcom.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 28, 2004 1:12 AM To: black_david@emc.com Cc: Uri Elzur Subject: Broadcom IPR Notice David, I am writing to advise the IETF that Broadcom believes it has patents and/or pending applications that relate to the Internet Draft document draft-ietf-rddp-mpa-xx. My understanding is that the subject draft is not yet on the Standards Track. Should the draft be placed on the Standards Track, Broadcom plans to promptly provide written assurance that it intends to license any necessary patent claims under reasonable and non-discriminatory terms. My interpretation of Section 10 of RFC 2026 is that such written assurance is not required at this time -- please let me know if you disagree. Best regards, Shannon Tyson -------------------- H.
