TITLE: Ice Planet Zero NAME: Peter Hart COUNTRY: Canada EMAIL: teledendron1@yahoo.com TOPIC: Stills Competition Fire and Ice COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: iceworld.jpg RENDERER USED: Lightwave 6.5 RENDER TIME: 2 Hours 13 Minutes 58 Seconds HARDWARE USED: Genuine Intel x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: An ice planet with a fire core A freak of interplanetary nature, this planet was a failed dwarf star that travelled into the orbit of a larger star and collected ice molecules from the planets that were formed over millions of years. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I started with a simple globe at 2 meters and hollowed out a 1.5 meter globe from it. I surfaced it with Lightwave's rough ocean shader and tweaked the shader for transparency, translucency and reflection. I also altered the colouration for a deeper effect. I then placed a point light in the center with a high red flare.
