TITLE: Speed is Relative NAME: Florian Siegmund COUNTRY: Austria EMAIL: hobbes-kuscheltiger@gmx.at TOPIC: Speed COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: sir_fs.jpg ZIPFILE: sir_fs.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray v3.6 TOOLS USED: Corel Photo-Paint 7 (for creating image maps, and for converting the final image to jpg) RENDER TIME: A few hours (about 5 or 6 on my acer laptop, 2.8 GHz) HARDWARE USED: Acer TravelMate 2203LMi IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Like Einstein said, speed is relative. And so is the speed of a snail. When you take the whole solar system into view, this snail orbits around the sun with an approximate speed of about 30 km/sec (18.5 miles/sec). And when you look at the whole universe and its expansion, the animal is even much faster. But that's not the point. The velocity of an object can only be measured in comparison to other objects. And in comparison to bacteria or plants' groth, the snail "is travelling at high speed" :) DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: For this, please take a look at the source files. Only one thing: the image maps were all painted in Corel Photo-Paint 7
