JPGFILE: badhair.jpg ZIPFILE: badhair.zip RENDERER USED: MegaPOV 1.1 TOOLS USED: Microsoft Paint (wall paper bitmap, box bitmap, eye iris), MegaPov1.1, Microsoft Photo Editor (To convert to jpg) RENDER TIME: 9 hours 23 minutes HARDWARE USED: 3.2 GHz Xeon, 1GB IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A woman has just finished using a home perm kit. She makes one pass through her hair with the brush and something feels wrong. She looks at the brush and 990f her hair is falling out. This picture is a snapshot just as she realizes what's happening. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I was originally designing the woman for the animation contest. One day when I was experimenting with hair, I came up with some that really looked bad, and it gave me the idea for this entry. I decided (with 6 days to go) to see if I could get an entry together for the stills contest. The woman is a little cartoonish, because I kept her simple enough to animate. She is composed mostly of sphere_sweeps. I started with the face and the dresser. Then I created a crude body, and drapped a cloth over it using clothsim in MegaPov. This is a very cool feature! It took several attempts to get the cloth right, at about an hour a try. While dropping the cloth, I removed the bristles of the brush and the hairs in the brush, because the collision detection took forever. Once I had the dressed woman and the dresser, I added some misc objects, like the box, bottles, etc. In the last 24 hours before the deadline, I played with lighting and radiosity. I had to crank the light from the bulbs way up to get enough light to see the face well. The included source includes everthing except the detailed head. In it's place is a faceless sphere. I plan to use this model in future animation contests and don't want to give it away at this time.
