TITLE: Enduring Freedom NAME: Chris Bianchi COUNTRY: United States of America EMAIL: chrisbianchi@earthlink.net WEBPAGE: http://www.strangesightings.com TOPIC: Desert COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: iraq.jpg ZIPFILE: iraq.zip RENDERER USED: Corel Bryce 5 TOOLS USED: Corel Bryce 5 RENDER TIME: 25 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 4 HT IMAGE DESCRIPTION: It's been awhile since submitting (I have a new daughter!), but the topic conjured thoughts in my head about the war in Iraq. Considering that the entire country is practically desert, and now a political wasteland as well, the subject seemed to fit just fine. Overall, an M-1 tank is sitting in the desert while an oil fire rages in the distance. Two F-177A Stealth fighters touch their waypoints overhead. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The M-1 tank and the F-177As are standard primitive models that I'm sure everyone is familiar with. The ground is a plain with some random terrain objects on the surface. The oil fire was the real new one for me. The distance doesn't do the realism justice on this one! I was quite proud of how it looked, and it managed to retain some of that luster even at the great distance form the POV that it is. It is, essentially, a textured volumetric sphere stretched vertically. In the center is a shrunken, yet high intensity, spherical light source. The "smoke" is actually random rock objects with a volumetric black smoke texture applied.
