Dr. Fred C. Fingerhoffer's concept and  implementation of  stacking the world's
deserts into vast "sandrises" seemed, at first, to please everyone. Developers
loved all the new areas now open for building; environmentalists were delighted
 that their beloved sand dunes were preserved; explorers enjoyed wandering the
trackless wastes mostly in SHADE. The  accolade for  Dr. Fingerhoffer 
continued  unabated  until,  of  course, the Great Sandstorm of 2087.
