From the land of miniature trees and giant men, from the sublime to the ridiculous, the magnificent to the trivial. A sumo legend, an epic hero in his own lifetime, enjoys a quiet summer evening at home ironing his loincloths. He is surrounded by loved and familiar things - his bonsai cherry tree, pictures of a sumo legend, the buddha conversing with Monkey, wrestling sumo from the early years of the century, hand-woven tatami over polished boards. The evening light illuminates a gentle, domestic scene.
DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:
Sumo - Poser 4, translated into Wings 3D where the kimono, the ironing board, the iron and the fabric were added.
Ironing basket - the basket modelled in Wings 3D, the kimonos are heightfields with patterns from the Internet.
Tatami - a macro that takes lots of little tiny cylinders and weaves them together, with enough randomness to make it naturalistic.
Shoji and cupboard - a frame&fill macro that creates an x*y grid of frames with a sheet of material inside them. Infinitely adaptable.
Pictures - the same frame&fill macro with photos from the Internet. Full attributions available on demand.
Bonsai - XFrog cherry tree model, trunk modelled in 3DWin, dirt a heightfield, tray a box differenced with another box.
