EMAIL: irtc@avaapgh.de NAME: Hans-Peter Bock TOPIC: Epic Proportions COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: Abacus COUNTRY: Germany RENDERER USED: Blender 2.33a (Linux) TOOLS USED: Gimp, Image Magick RENDER TIME: five minutes HARDWARE USED: Athlon 1095.364MHz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A forgotten abacus is standing in a room right next to the wall. Right in front of it lies a microcontroller which probably dropped from the desk. Isn't the Abacus compared to the microcontroller mindboggingly huge, if you compare their functionalities? This is my first image submission to IRTC! DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The text on the microcontroller was taken from a photo and produced with gimp as an image texture. The scene is rendered with 4000x3000 pixels and rescaled to 1000x750 with Image Magick, because with the builtin oversampling of blender the text on the microcontroller was unreadable. (Although it still is unreadable at 1000x750.) Some textures were taken from the Blender materials database: http://www.geocities.com/pollythesheep/matlib_thumbs.html The carpet texture was created as described in the Blenderman magazine May/2004: http://www.blenderman.org/magazine/0405/index.html
