TITLE: Augury NAME: Charles Rousseau COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: rousseauc@bellarmineprep.org TOPIC: The Future COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: augury.jpg RENDERER USED: Bryce 5.0 TOOLS USED: Rhino 2.0 RENDER TIME: 17.25 hours HARDWARE USED: PC IMAGE DESCRIPTION: We see now but through a glass darkly...after watching so many people in my graphics class doing spaceships and cities and robots and aliens, I knew I had to go in another direction. A sphere to be the earth became a crystal ball, then a book and key were added, an hour glass and the goblet of seer's potion. A mirror, doubled to two, then a table, some candles and greenery. The file grew to over 250mB and I still managed to get in the cards and the logo, but had to leave out the lamp and dagger and some other stuff. There are some reflection images in the mirror behind the camera which some people say they can see, others say there is nothing there. I was looking for effects with pyramids and eyes and radiant suns, from the table texture to the images bouncing back and forth between the mirrors. If I can find a bigger, faster computer, I want to put the other objects back in the scene, add back the lights I had to take out and re-render sometime. As is, it only froze twice and crashed once. It was better than I thought it would be as a planet in space. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: All meshes created from scratch in Rhino. All textures except the pictures on the cards and book were made with Photopaint and Ultimate FX. Pictures were 16th-19th century images from the Taschen Encyclopedia of Alchemy. Image was cropped from a more vertical image and transformed from a .bmp to a compressed .jpg to meet file size requirements.
