DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I used Vue D'Espirt for the landscape in the background, and lightwave 3d for the building of the cross and foreground. I then used 3 Procedural Textures for the blood stains. Saslite (which is included with lightwave 7) was used to create the grass around the cross. To add to the effect, I added a small volumetric light and a light fog, using lightwave's volumetrics.
