JPGFILE: sb_pump1.jpg ZIPFILE: sb_pump1.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.5 for Linux TOOLS USED: POV-Ray, Gimp 1.2 DEVELOPMENT TIME: 1 week before the deadline RENDER TIME: 12.5 minutes (7 minutes parse time, 5 minutes render time) HARDWARE USED: AMD K6 450MHz, 160MB RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The water pump, a way of bringing water conviently to those who needed it near their house. Without the pain of walking to a lake or river. This old piece of technology did not need circuitry or motors or electricity. It used by gold old leverage and human power. But now more effient and convient ways have made hand pumped water almost a memory. The icesicle attempts to show that the pump is unused. And the snow is there because I couldn't make grass fast enough and it's snowing A LOT this year in the Mid-West. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This is the first real scene that I've made with POV-Ray, I'm in the process of learning how POV-Ray's syntax works and what is available. I think that's very evident in the image. I made the pump myself, the trees are used from Andrew Clinton's wonderful tree package: http://povplace.addr.com/files/ The poor attempt at a house was thrown in there at the end. it's more like a hotel taken from a Monopoly game board. The snow settings were taken from an article on one of the povray newsgroups. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm having a lot of fun doing it. The hardest thing about making this image was getting the spines right on the pump handle. In the end, I did a lot of things in a hurry because I ran out of time. I'll probably be the last person to make their submision.
