EMAIL: Densz@prontomail.com NAME: D.D. TOPIC: Loneliness COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: d Lonely Egg RENDERER USED: Pov-Ray for Windows v3.1 TOOLS USED: Spatch, Hamapatch and Photoshop(for conversion to jpg) RENDER TIME: 6hr 32s HARDWARE USED: Pentium 200Mhz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: In a far away land there lies an egg which looks like a house. This is some of the lonely tales of the lonely egg: Some children are playing at the bottom of the egg but why does a boy sitting alone under the tree looking dejected? Doesn't anybody wants to play with him? It must be a painful experience where one is not allowed to join in any fun games at a tender age. So this is the first story of the lonely egg.... The second story of the lonely egg takes us at the middle-top floor of the egg. It tells a story of a soon to be lonely woman awaiting the recovery of her man from a illness. Will he survive or will the woman be left alone in the end? Oh the agony..(Please note that this level portrays the interior of the egg or the cross-section of it). Finally, the last story of the lonely egg brings us to the top of the egg(or the nest). There lies a guy on a nest(who is...relaxing..or thinking...or..) who wants to be left alone. Somehow there is a lady looking for him on the middle-bottom floor, seems like she is lonely too...maybe she's needing some company?...hmm ;O) DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: All models are made in Spatch using primitive objects, extrusion, lathing etc. The finished Spatch models are exported to Hamapatch to apply the textures. Most of the textures are taken from the included files found in povray 3.1. The sky is a combination of 3 planes layered behind one another and each plane consists of different sky textures found in the povray 3.1 include files which are all scaled to 25. The grass is a combination of wrinkles and granite with added turbulence. The leaves of the tree are a mixture of granite and agate. The 'waterfall' texture is by combining a turbulence waves with bumps. After doing a test rendering to an almost completed scene with no anti-aliasing at 768 by 1240 that takes about 6 days to complete the rendering, I've decided to render the scene in 4 parts (to have enough time for the submission) and joining them together to make the whole image in the end. The rendering(768x1240 at anti-alias 0.3) uses two light sources. Here are the breakdown for each of the rendered time: Top level: 1 hr 46s top middle level: 1hr 23m 34s bottom middle level: 1hr 25m 38s bottom level: 2hr 10m 34s Total time: 6hr 32s Note: The zipped of the povray scene doesn't include small items like furnishings and 'humanoids', only big ones and it stands at 5.7megabites zipped to 779kilobites. :O)
