TITLE: BottleShip NAME: Benno Wagner COUNTRY: Germany EMAIL: geckographics@web.de WEBPAGE: www.gecko.darkgrafix.com TOPIC: worlds within worlds COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: bship.jpg RENDERER USED: HIGHLIGHT 3.0 TOOLS USED: blender RENDER TIME: 70 minutes HARDWARE USED: Athlon 1GHZ IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Well, I was inspired to this image by a strange handtooled gift that can be found in the german north-sea area so called "Buddelschiff" (schiff=ship, buddel dialect =bottle). a "Buddelschiff" is a tiny bottle where a small ship wich is much biger then the bottle-neck is build in (check out www.buddelschiffe.de to see one!). The miracle is how the craftsman put the ship into the bottle. it must be done by a ghost!!! And such a ship "locked up" in a bottle, isn't this a small world within another one?!? DESICRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I made all the things that can be seen on this image by myself with highlight. One exception: the ghost-hands are made with blender. Construction with highlight is not very comfortable but its a easy to use tool and used it before I knew highlight. So most of the objects are quiet old, i got them from some of my ancient projects. Because of that, I spend most of my time to develop the textures and the scenery. The rendering process took realy a lot of time because of all the mirrowing in the water and in the bottle and because of the special effects. (While I am writing this text the computer raytraces and I had to correct the render time 4times to a higher level;-). (While I am writing this text, my website isn't online yet, but one is sure: The adress given at the top will be my further internet adress when everything goes right!) (Now after one hour of raytracing, I expected to see the finished image, but the computer crashed down...)
