TITLE: oranges NAME: Jim Charter COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: jrcsurvey@aol.com TOPIC: Spirit of Asia COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: oranges.jpg RENDERER USED: Megapov RENDER TIME: 5 h 28 m HARDWARE USED: p800 256 laptop IMAGE DESCRIPTION: "And she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from China", from "Suzanne" by Leonard Cohen The relationship to the topic is admittedly oblique. But I always liked that line in the Cohen song. It suggests innocent delight in the romance of far away places. Tea and oranges suggest the exotic East, found in the everyday. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The rattan background is a hybred of checkers and gradient pigment patterns. I actually had modelled the rattan from interwoven torus segments but that overwhelmed my computer. The oranges are modelled from small blobs placed with splines and scaled by referencing patterns with the eval_pigment function, so that their textures are actual. The patterns used were combined radial and wrinkles.
