TITLE: Let's attack! NAME: DECLE Fabrice COUNTRY: France EMAIL: decle@club-internet.fr TOPIC: Still images (insects and spiders) COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: attack.jpg RENDERER USED: 3DS MAX TOOLS USED: None RENDER TIME: About 5 min HARDWARE USED: Pentium 200 MMX IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This image shows some ants attacking a pie during a pic-nic, which often happens!!! DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image was quite hard to do because everything was big, so I couldn't "cheat", I had to create really detailled objects. Indeed, the scene was very heavy... *The ants have been made from a tutorial. It is made of primitives modified with FFD or EDIT MESH. The texture of the ant needed a lot of work, because I wanted to gat a photo-realistic one. So I've studied a lot of pictures and photos, I've observed a lot of real ants and I've made my map. What makes realistic is bump mapping: I've used 3 bump maps to create the ant's texture. * The tablecloth was made from a PATCH deformed. It was quite easy (even if the result is not perfect, far from it...) *The grass was also made from a tut. It's easy to abtain this effect: you only have to create a lot of objects... *The background is a simple map from a photograph. * The aluminium was hard to do because of the map: I've created the map by studying a real aluminium paper... You only need to have a big shining a reflexions.
