TITLE: The Abandoned Throne NAME: Jason Smith COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: jps6860@yahoo.com TOPIC: Worship COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: thrn_jps.jpg ZIPFILE: thrn_jps.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.1 TOOLS USED: Moray 3.3 RENDER TIME: 1h 6m HARDWARE USED: AMD Athlon 600 Mhz, 128 MB Ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: When I saw the topic was worship I wanted to try to avoid the obvious. My first idea was "praying to the porcelain god". After I finished the room and toilet I realized I'd need to create a person to complete the scene. I didn't really have the time I'd need to create a convincing figure so I tried to come up with alternatives. I started to explore the idea of the toilet as a throne. While working on making the scene look a little less sterile I decided to portray it as neglected and abandoned. The Abandoned Throne was the result. While not a traditional throne it is definitely no longer a place for a king to be worshipped. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: All of the models are based on their real life counterparts from my bathroom. The toilet, toilet paper dispenser and plunger are CSG. The tiles on the floor and walls are cubes with a plane as the grout. All the textures are layered to add the sense of grime. The base for the wood textures comes from textures supplied with Moray. Colors for the solid textures are based on the colors of my bathroom. The dirt was created using a colormap. I played around with transformations and transparency until it started looking like dirt. I've included the Moray mdl as well as the resulting POV-Ray file in the zip. The clean version of the texture are also present in the files.
