EMAIL: fjdavid1@netzero.net NAME: Frank David TOPIC: Laboratory COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: 1900's Lab COUNTRY: USA WEBPAGE: http://members.tripod.com/FrankDavid RENDERER USED: Povray 3.1.a TOOLS USED: RENDER TIME: 0 hours 55 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium-400 mhz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The laboratory is depicted as it might have look in the lat 1800's to early 1900's. The microscope was the center of a laboratory then and steril environments were not considered. Working on a wooden table today would be considered unhealthy. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The entire scene was made from CSG's except for the microscope base. I had the idea that It would be easier to create the microscope in a 3d-cad program and export it to a triangle-mesh. That however turned out to be more work that it was worth, not to mention the black microscope base file is larger than the rest of the entire scene. So, it is the only piece in the scene not from CSG. There are several image maps used to create the textures like the wall, the outdoor picture (the window glass is POV textures) all of the individual book covers are images maps. The wood textures are POV wood textures and the liquids in the beakers and the test tubes are filtered pigments with turbulence in and different color added. I didn't include all of the image maps for this image since it would have been over 2meg zipped. If you would like to get the eitire zipped file with images send me an e-mail.
