NAME: Michael Miller EMAIL: blackmariah@techie.com TOPIC: Sea COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. RENDERER USED: Pov-Ray for Windows TOOLS USED: Moray for Windows v3.2, Amapi 4 (kind of), Bright 1.06 RENDER TIME: about 20 minutes HARDWARE USED: P200 32mb RAM, I REALLY need to upgrade soon. IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Late in the evening a pair of Spanish sailors are returning to their galleon after making landfall earlier in the day. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I know, what sailors? They are there, but they are hard to see in this image. The boat they are in is directly right of the hull of the galleon. Since I'm still new at this and pretty much suck at modelling I used sample models from Amapi 4.I,m not sure if I can distribute these, so no zipfile (better safe than sorry).Textures on everything are standard ones included with Pov-Ray, nothing special The cliffs are a heightfield made in a freeware paint package called Bright (it's a pretty good tool for really quick work, personally I like it better than Paintshop, mainly because it's much faster on my puny computer. You can find it at www.bnd.to). The water and sky are just plains with a standard texture(quiet water and a modified carribean blue sky). Everything was put in place using Moray, as I don't have the skill to code everything by hand. When looking at this, PLEASE remember that I have only been doing this stuff for about four months and that not all of us are Gilles Tran (that would be cool though).I'm really only doing this because I'd like some feedback on my work(no matter how simple) and thought this would be the best way.
