TITLE: Columbus Dream COUNTRY: Italy WEBPAGE: http://www.mclink.it/personal/MC7872/graphics/index.html RENDERER USED: Bryce 3D 4.0 TOOLS USED: none RENDER TIME: 15 hours HARDWARE USED: Pentium II @ 500 MHz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A new sea to ride, a new starry night to follow, beneath skies never seen before... The dream of an explorator, a never ending ride across seas. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Picture entirely made with Bryce 3D 4.0, using a true deep-sky image as sky background (the famous "Horsehead Nebula", within the Orion Constellation), and an actual shot of Mars taken by the NASA's Mars Global Observer probe. Galleon modelled with Lightwave 3D (the galleon available with the original distribution of the program is completely wrong in proportions, and very very poor in details). The sea surface is a complex structure obtained by mixing several fractal surfaces in order to reproduce the high detailed sea structure, with many different frequency wavelenghts. The same for the background mountains, made using the Bryce's terrain editor using a quick and simple fractal base. This picture was slightly inspired by the song "Columbus", by the astounding voice of Mary Black; try to listen at her songs, sometimes: they can turn good your day... :-)
