COUNTRY: United Kingdom RENDERER USED: povray v3.1 for windows TOOLS USED: Form Paint Shop Pro RENDER TIME: 1 hour 32 minutes 26 seconds HARDWARE USED: pentium IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This is my first major POV picture. The next one will be better, promise. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The ground and cliffs are heightfields. The frog is a bunch of blobs, as are the mushrooms. Most of the plants were made in Form; the exception being the ferns. I made these by arranging hemi-ellipses into a kind of spiral, then repeating on the resulting object. The twigs are made out of sine curves, and re-used in the tree and the root structure. The roots also contain some twisty spirally things from Form, and a sphere full of media to give it a dusty/muddy look. The pines in the background are a material map that I drew in Paint Shop Pro. The trickle of water in the lower right is a bit of csg. I've taken a little artistic licence with the viscosity of water. I've done nothing fancy with any of the textures; most of them are just pure colours. I'd been playing with povray for about 2 weeks before I started this picture, so I've not really got to grips with all the features. Is there any way of making media with really dense opaque bits in it? My mud is a little too wispy.
