EMAIL: eric@sg.nl NAME: Eric van der Ree TOPIC: The Wilderness COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: Untouched Nature II COUNTRY: The Netherlands WEBPAGE: none RENDERER USED: Povray 3.1 TOOLS USED: Terragen, Forester, LParser, PlantStudio, Moray RENDER TIME: 4 hours (total of several phases) HARDWARE USED: PC - Pentium III (64MB) IMAGE DESCRIPTION: No footprints here ..., just a floating Povray camera. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image was created in phases, using several tools. Phase 1. The terrain, clouds and atmosphere are made and rendered in Terragen V0.7 by M.P.Fairclough (the up till now freeware landscape generator). Phase 2. All the trees are generated in LParser by Lapre (a free L-system creator) and exported to a Povray include file with Lv2povid by C. van der Mark. This include file was further edited (replace option used) in order to make every leave a random color within certain RGB-ranges. This gives a more natural look. Phase 3. The plants and reeds in the front are generated in the demo version of PlantStudio by Kurtz-Fernhout Software and exported to a Povray include file. Phase 4. The birds are created in Moray V3.2 by Lutz+Kretzschmar (shareware modeler) and exported to a Povray include file. Phase 5. All the objects (Phase 2, 3 and 4) are defined within Forester v0.01.08B by Stephen Dartnall (Beta version), placed on the imported terrain from Terragen (Phase 1), rendered in phases using Povray and merged with the image from Terragen (Phase 1). This looks straight forward, but during the 'struggle' of making this image, I often jumped between all of these phases. It is not possible to make a Zip-file of all this. I only put in the Povray source of the result from Phase 2 (the trees).
