TITLE: House of Cards NAME: Chris Spencer COUNTRY: United States of America EMAIL: chris@bluelectrode.com WEBPAGE: www.bluelectrode.com/art TOPIC: Ruins COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: house_of.jpg RENDERER USED: POV-Ray v3.1 TOOLS USED: Moray v3.1(scene modeling) Photoshop v5.0.2(image maps, file conversion) RENDER TIME: 14 hr 11 min 29 sec HARDWARE USED: Pentium III, 128.0MB RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Oh so falls my house of cards...ruined. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The concept and layout were first drawn freehand. All models are mine. The image maps of the cards are from an actual deck of scanned cards. In case anyone's curious, the image on the back of the cards is a painting by Norman Rockwell. The 14+ hours this scene took to render was due to the combination of the atmospheric media, focal blur, and radiosity. I tried to have some fun with the book titles...note disclaimer...the book titles in no way imply arrogance of the artist or a correct way to 'master' POV through the example of this image, it's just sarcasm! The scene originally had two spotlights, but the 40+ hours rendering time forced me to knock off one of them. I really didn't have time to zip-up the source code, which is actually quite small. Just drop me a line if you're interested in obtaining a copy.
