This is simply a 19th century barn and wagon in a large field of grass. This scene is commonly seen all across the U.S. Well, maybe not the wagon. Most of the ones, that have that have survived, have been taken by the antique hunters and dealers. By world standards, our country is pretty young and most of the ruins are recent. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The barn is modeled from a Joseph Scaylea photograph. Nested loops were use to randomly put the shingles and siding in place. Chris Colefax's Object Bender was used to create the bent and sagging effect. I used Jaime Vives Piqueres brilliantly simple "stacked planes of clouds" trick to create the sky. I just don't see why someone didn't come up with this idea years ago. The wagon is all simple CSG. I created wood grain bump maps for the wagon wood and one for the wheels. I use a silver color to give the effect of old sun-bleached wood. Also there are a few patches of green to suggest moss. I have to thank Gilles Tran for his grass macros. I pretty much used one of his examples, but fiddled with the numbers and turned the blades up side down. There is a slight ground fog to create the haze at the horizon. The distant tree line is made with a single tree made with a bunch of spheres. This tree?, was randomly rotated and placed several times to create the effect. Well, that's about it. The height field for the distant hills, some bump maps and a grass include file were not included in the zip file. If you want them, just email me.
