===== From ekaiser@camden.tds.net: good start, all you need is some practice. ===== From bobfranke@halcyon.com: This is a good start, although I don't see much that looks like ruins. Try experimenting with more textures and changing the scale of the textures. Hope to see you in the next round. ===== From whhale@nvl.army.mil: This is a good idea but you didnt follow through. To get rid of that jaggie look use an AA setting of 0.1 or less. also could use a bit more brightness. You can set the intensity of your lights by adding a number after the position. ===== From agage@csee.usf.edu: I'd recommend turning on antialiasing (use a +A0.1 for the command line arguments) ===== From chris@bluelectrode.com: Not bad for a first try. Next time consider antialiasing. Good job. ===== From sammy@cube.net: I'm not into PovRay, but the first thing I would try, if I were you, would be to use AntiAlias. And adding a slightly more extensive explanationwhat your picture is all about wouldn't hurt neither. Otherwise not bad for a first picture. ===== From tlyons@gnn.com: some are too busy this one is on the plain side a little more detail would help. ===== From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com: Yes, good for a start, but clearly looks off-topic to me. Without being too verbose you can still expand your text a little more about the image itself rather than your ability. ===== From jouni@mikrobitti.fi: Technically the image is OK, you've found some basic elements of raytracing. You should try rendering these things with anti-aliasing on, it will smooth the edges. Your image is also somewhat hit by heavy JPEG compression; once you get more details into your scenes, don't try to compress your images to 35 kB. For now, the temple doesn't look too much like a ruin. Keep on rendering! ===== From schimmler@ica.uni-stuttgart.de: It's always useful to turn on antialiasing. It improves the quality a lot. Nice start! ===== From chris_darcy@yahoo.com: I know how you feel. Keep @ it. ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: This seems like a good basic start of a scene to me... it shows a good eye for layout and use of basic objects. It looks like you didn't anti-alias the scene at all, though, and using anti-aliasing should help a lot (it should get rid of the jagged edges throughout the scene.) It looks a lot better than some of my first scenes, though. If I were you, my next step would be spending a while working on texturing... good textures are a big part of making scenes which are impressive. Shows a lot of promise though, I think, and it should be interesting to see what you're creating a few months down the line. ===== From c.bunker@plymouth.ac.uk: good for a first attempt . You might want to make sure you render at the full size and turn anti-alaising on, I know this will slow up the render but the results are worth it . you apear to have gone for a fairly standard isometric view, however becouse you image is semetrical it might be nice to pll this feature out more by placing the camera in the center of the stage and pointing it stait out wards through the pillars . also as a rule of thumb if you possition your camera high up and point it down it will give a rest full feel, but placing it lower and pointing up will have more action . ===== From peter@table76.demon.co.uk: Much subtler texturing than my first entry. It doesn't really look ruined though. Curious little object in the centre - I like the look of that. ===== From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk: Some parts of this look good, the walls need a more interesting texture, and the columns could be modelled to make them more interesting, you could difference them with a torus in a few places and give them a better texture. Good work for a firts image, but it doesn't reflect the topic for myself. Hope to see more of your work in future rounds.
