===== From ekaiser@camden.tds.net: Very nice. The scale seems wrong though. ===== From whhale@nvl.army.mil: Very nice portayal fo recent ruins. I thoucht having the water splash on the pilings was an especially nice touch and showed great attention to detail. BTW...Is your Sailboat on Auto Pilot :-} ===== From chris@bluelectrode.com: They may be a little ways off but the waves worked out pretty well. Great use of the lense flare and superb modeling on the rigs. The waves splash on the pillars is a nice detail. Overall, excellant job. ===== From ddombrow@vt.edu: A great image. I love the wave texture, and the well placed sailboat sets a nice focus for the scene. ===== From cyberjoe@cytanet.com.cy: Very good work all around the clouds have a little bit of the "falling horizon" problem which could be effectively overcome by adding a little layered fog. ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: nice image.... water ....nice... ===== From mibmlr@hotmail.com: WOW! This is certainly outstanding! I love the sailing boat! It might have been nice to have someone aboard though. Great job! ===== From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com: The best concept, really. One of the best submissions. ===== From jouni@mikrobitti.fi: Good choice of subject, the oil drilling platforms look nice, thanks to your pedantic modelling - I'll give you technical merit for that. Oh yeah, nice splashes you've got there. On the other side, I feel there's a conflict between the highly reflective and finished water, which could well be from a oil painting. The sailing boat, albeit nicely modelled, goes IMO into the same category, somewhat bringing two worlds together in an incompatible way. The ruins part of the theme is somewhat hampered by these near-romantic figures. A little less prominent lens flare might've sufficed for me, too. Anyway, it's a nice one. Definitely one of the best interpretations so far in the round. ===== From chris_darcy@yahoo.com: Lens flare!! Otherwise great picture. ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: The sky is nice, and the level of detail on the drilling platforms is amazing. I also like the look of the sails on the boat. ===== From jaime@ctav.es: Original, and well modelled. For the sea hf, have you tried POV-Ray as hf generator? You can do incredible things with B&W textures (layered, patterned, etc...). ===== From clem@dhol.org: Nice layout and modelling. Lighting is perhaps a bit dark. The turbulence around the pillars is an excellent idea, but didn't quite come out right. The water is a bit glassy. The lens flare detracts from the image. The truncated tower is the centerpiece of the image and works quite well. It is the only part that really conveys a sense of ruin, but it is sufficient. ===== From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au: Very nice ruins of the oil rig, with detailed modelling and texturing. Unfortunately it's let down a bit by the water and the boat, which looks like a toy in a bathtub rather than a real boat on an ocean. I think the rippling in the water needs to be smaller. ===== From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk: It's hard to think of what to say, this is such a stunning image. The water doesn't look real, but looks painted and really seems to fit the scene well. Fantastic modelling on the rigs. The only improvements I can think of are that I can't see any people on the boat, (the scene could do quite well without it though), and the lense flare is a bit too prominant, it could be toned down a bit. This is a really great piece of work, let's hope you take part in future rounds of the IRTC. ===== From file: nice modelling and lighting ===== From file: I love this fractal sky and the platforms, a bit better water and a moderate bumpmap to the sails and it would be perfect Notable for modelling ===== From file: Great oil platforms, and the spray around them looks good. The water seems a little placid, though! ===== From file: Notable for lighting ===== From file: The sailboat is very well done here. Notable for modelling
