TITLE: The meeting NAME: Alessandro Vannini COUNTRY: Italy EMAIL: a.vannini@mclink.it WEBPAGE: http://www.mclink.it/personal/MC7872/graphics/index.html TOPIC: Gardens COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: the_meet.jpg RENDERER USED: Bryce 3D 4.0 TOOLS USED: 3D Studio MAX 3.0 for modelling bodies, and Bryce 3D for rendering RENDER TIME: 6 hour and 45 minutes for the hi-res version (not available on the web) HARDWARE USED: Intel Pentium Celeron 500, with 256 Mb of RAM, RivaTNT-based graphic card, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This image depicts my idea of "paradisiac" garden, with a meeting of two different creatures, a humane female and a somewhat alien male. I think that this is the fundamental message of this picture: within the Garden of the ancient and lost Paradise, which symbolise the original human condition, there are no limitations, no diversity, no racism, no corruption. Just love. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This picture was created around the two main characters, using many different tools to complete the scene. Both male and female meshes was built using 3D Studio MAX 3.0, a REALLY HARD work!!! After the sculpting work, the models are imported into Bryce 3D for the final rendering. The trees visible in the background are made using the fantastic TreeDruid for Lightwave 3D, and imported into Bryce as DXF models. Texture are really important in the scene, I could say that texture are very far the most important element in building a good scene. The texture used for the wet bodies were obtained by freehand drawing with my Wacom Artpad graphic tablet and Adobe Photoshop 5.0, and then used in Bryce's Material Editor to obtain the final skins. One important note: the two lateral black bands are closely part of the picture: they embrace the colors within a silent and dark limit, and suggest to the observer a panorama wider than that visible... Ok, that's all, folks! :-) Enjoy my picture, and let me know what about, ok? And, please, pardon my poor english!!! :-)
