TITLE: Tiny Garden NAME: Melissa Rogers COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: athene@u.washington.edu TOPIC: Gardens COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: melgardt.jpg ZIPFILE: melgardt.zip RENDERER USED: Povray 3.1g for Win95 RENDER TIME: 4 m 15 s TOOLS: pencil and paper :) HARDWARE USED: Pentium something-or-other IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Some flowers growing in a small space, sheltered from the vast nothingness around them. HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: All flower petals are polygons. The sunflower's petals were placed with a #while loop; I used the spiral2 texture on a small portion of sphere to make its center. The dome is a CSG subtraction of two stretched spheres with glass texture. KNOWN BUGS: This is my first IRTC entry, and it took about five times as long as I thought it would to plan, implement, and tweak all the objects -- and this isn't a very complicated scene! Stems on the flowers tend to protrude into the petals, and there's still something wrong with the sunflower's center. Any advice (especially not involving fancy modeling software) would be most appreciated. :)
