===== From cdsi26@bupers.navy.mil: Ypu are my other choice for first place. A first class image that plays with primal fear. Great work. ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: Nice atmosphere... nice use of two tones.... ===== From timk@jtse.com: Excellent concept, model, and texture. But poor contrast. I couldn't even tell that they were rats. Since the rats are really the center of the action, and of the interpretation of theme, they should have been highlighted somehow. Perhaps through lighting. Or through perspective: Have the human character fall and see thousands of rats from the ground in a surrealistic horror. ===== From ameede@madmac.com: I had to actually get up and walk away and think about this piece. Sometimes I have a problem with the popular notions of things. The typical pictures we formulate in our minds of what horror is about or anything for that matter. There is no doubt that you gave careful thought about compositional constraints. And your technical expertise in creating the artwork is what led me to give you the highest rating I am allowed to give. You also exhibited an environment that broadened ones experience of a horrific situation, rather than a focused or bracketed scene. Everything is there, your attention to detail creating the objects and yes a scene about a situation that would cause anyone to be in fear of their life. Yet this type of scene, at least for me (and this is a subjective opinion) is cliche, is it something that I have seen or similar to it in many horror films. I believe that an artist should portray a vision that others would miss if it wasn't for the individual perception of the artist. In other words show the viewer something that they haven't seen yet or considered yet. ameede@madmac.com ===== From mark_poole2000@yahoo.com: This image has a great atmospheric feel to it. The lighting conveys the sense of scale, and the textures are well done. The only detraction to it is the spine and skull. ===== From patrickd@netins.net: Too difficult to tell what the "things" are (rats?) The lighting and textures are really good though. ===== From jrcsurvey@aol.com: I just can't resist this harmony of deep rust and silvers with the matrix textures. Makes me want to see Bladerunner again ===== From dlauer@optonline.net: Very terrifying. Almost photo-realistic. Great job with the lighting. Nice Work. ===== From dwallace@lynx.dac.neu.edu: Modular designs like this one work very well as they "fill up" the image. You might want to check out Poser for nicer skeletons, but yours is not that bad. ===== From tina@ripco.com: The rusting effect is excellent. I like the way the light comes in. Overall maybe just a tad on the dark side, but given my own problems with light levels I can't really fault that; light can be a real pain to balance versus the needs of the scene. One of the more nicely arranged scenes I've seen.. ===== From rbenjam2@tampabay.rr.com: Great textures for the rusted pipes. ===== From ericf@foothill.net: I appreciate the subtlety of this image. Implied more that shown. The darkness makes it hard to see the rats, but that works with type of scene, since they become more shadowy. The rusted metal is a nice touch. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: A strong scene with superb modelling. Good sense of foreboding, dread. Very good textures and stark lighting. ===== From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk: Wow! This one is good. The texturing, lighting, modelling and just the way it's been put together. The media did work very well. That hook that's hanging down, was one of the inmates changing the clutch on his motor while doing a stretch for GBH. Hope to see more of your work in future rounds. ===== From file: I really like this pic! (wish it were mine) Notable for composition, lighting
