TITLE: Burn the Witch COUNTRY: USA WEBPAGE: http://mh_portfolio.tripod.com/ RENDERER USED: Bryce 3D TOOLS USED: Bryce 3D, Corel Photopaint, sPatch, Poser 3, Ray Dream Studio 5 RENDER TIME: over 10 hours HARDWARE USED: AMD K6-2 400, 128 MB SD-RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Very near historic old Salem. A young woman hears the minister gathering the townspeople in the courtyard. "She's a witch! Let's burn her!" She runs through the rain as fast as her legs and bare feet will carry her. With the pack at her heels. And nowhere safe to hide or hope of escape. (I was told that this image was not particularly frightening, but after all of the test renders, nitpicking, and the render time, I was determined to submit it anyway. I'm not sure I'm patient enough to make effective use of volumetric light sources very often.) DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Began with a basic female Poser figure and changed the expression and pose. Used Ray Dream to change her body and legs to make her dress and add movement to her hair (My first experimentation with Ray Dream.). Also used Poser to make the "minister." Modelled the torches and water ripples and splashes with sPatch. The rain is a volumetric light source, and the torch flames are separate light sources. The terrains in the background were created in Bryce. Added signature and converted to jpg with PhotoPaint.
