COUNTRY: South Africa WEBPAGE: - RENDERER USED: Bryce 3d TOOLS USED: Lsystem4, PSP for jpeg conversion RENDER TIME: +-20 hours HARDWARE USED: Pentium II 333Mhz, 64Meg Ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: In the peaceful domestic scene, horror creeps in when the cat gets into the bird-cage... DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: You are supposed to stare at this picture and figure out the story (i.e. kitty-cat eats birdy). This room is a huge collection of rectangles, spheres, donuts, boolean objects, two dimensional picture objects, light sources, texture maps. dxf files and a 3d rock in the form of a cat. The cat, fire and feathers were the most difficult to do. For the cat, I took a basic clipart of a cat, modified it slightly and brought it into the 3d landscape/rock generator where I painted over the image using the elevation maker tool to create a 3d "rock" which was then covered in a white texture to look like a cat. Well I was happy with the cat. The feathers were created using the freely available Lsystem4 software which uses Lindenmayer systems (similar to fractal mathematics) to create recursive objects. Trial and error resulted in these equations (for those that have Lsystem4): 20 - recursions 5 - angle step 40 - initial line thickness &(90)''''''F"""^(90)&(3)+(3)C C=[A]&(90)''F""""^(90)&(1)+(1)[A]&(90)''''F""""^(90)&(1)+(1)[A]&(90)'''''F""""^(90)&(1)+(1)[C] A=[B]+(180)[B] B=["""??F!'&F'&F'&F!&FF"!!!!FF] @ The fire is a collection of stretched spheres textured with a Bryce fire texture with a Bryce smoke texture above, and a light source within. The grating around the fireplace was just a little bit time consuming to create... The rocking horse dxf came from www.3dcafe.com as did the basis for the plant dxf. The horse picture came from photos on my Corel Wordperfect cd-rom. The original Bryce file is huge (7 meg) and so is not included in the zip file. Who's the little girl... she was famous. A huge part of producing this picture was simply rearranging things, doing interior decorating, and creating all the details one might find in a room such as this. The lines and objects are supposed to draw attention to the cat, and the girl, horses and rocking-horse are all facing towards the cat. This is significant. Hope you liked it.
