TITLE: The lighthouse NAME: T.L.P. EMAIL: tlp_oh@hotmail.com TOPIC: Landmarks COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: lighthou.jpg RENDERER USED: Cinema4D GO (It's a GREAT 3D package, that cost under 200$, so I guess it's ok with the competition rules) TOOLS USED: Rhino, Lparser, PaintShop Pro (for heightfields creation) RENDER TIME: 21 03 min HARDWARE USED: Pentium II 350 Mhz, 64Mb memory IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Since the sea is my second love, and since a lighthouse is the most obvious landmark I could think about, I decided to make a lighthouse scene. So I started With the lighthouse in the middle, and the whole scene was built around it. At first, I started with a lighthouse on a beach scene, but something was missing. So I added the dock, and then the old ship, and from here to there, it finally became a small harbour scene. I had no idea how the final scene would look like until last week... !!!IMPORTANT - I'v noticed that my screen is much darker then other screens. So, if the image looks too bright or pale on your screen, adjust the screen brightness or decrease the image gamma. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Since I am new to Cinema4D GO, I don't know all the modeling options yet. So the ship, the boats and the bird were modeled in Rhino. The tree was created in Lparser, and was exported as dxf. The nearest dock is a displacement map on a cube, and the hill is an heightfield. All the other elements are simple primitives. I wanted to add the scene file, but its size is 8megs zipped... So, if you want it (or any of the elements individually), email me.
