IMAGE DESCRIPTION: 

Late at night, over milk and cookies, a budding ray-tracer takes the first steps
into an obsession we all know well.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 

With lots and lots of headaches...my MB died right at the end, UPS came through
 and I got most of the stuff done that I wanted to.

There are actually _three_ separate raytraced images in this one. The title
 page of the book was done in Vision3d, and the archetypical checkered plain
on the pop-up page was done with POV-Mac.

It was a nightmare project, something in the image is causing it to crash a
few minutes before completing the image, what I've actually submitted here 
is a screen capture of the rendering image the last 30 or so lines aren't 
antialiased completely :-(
