EMAIL: chris.jackson@marine.csiro.au NAME: Philip Jackson TOPIC: water COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: Serpent COUNTRY: Australia RENDERER USED: povray 3.02 for windows TOOLS USED: spatch, moray for windows, adobe photoshop, KPT RENDER TIME: 47 minutes HARDWARE USED: pentium 100, 64 meg of ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The image is of a sea serpent, he could be the Loch Ness Monster as the area that he is in looks more like a misty loch or a lake (loch serpent, Lake serpent). He does not have teeth because he only eats fish. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The sea serpent was created entirely in Spatch, i then exported it into moray. All the serpents textures are image maps that i made in photoshop. The main scales texture was a basic black and white snakeskin pattern i had on my harddrive which i edited. I made it tile together with KPT's seamless welder, changed its colour and blurred it because it was very blocky.i also used photoshop to mould the scales texture around the head. The other textures of all the spines i made from scratch. The mountains are just height fields and the water is just a default water texture from moray. I didnt include the source file because its 1.5 megs, and with the image maps it was close to 10 megs.
