TITLE: "Beware the Frowning SandFish!" NAME: Lachlan Cox COUNTRY: Australia EMAIL: lachie@zip.com.au WEBPAGE: http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~s2211017 TOPIC: Water COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: frown.jpg ZIPFILE: frown.zip RENDERER USED: povray 3.1 ( MSDOS - because there's no Linux version ;) ) TOOLS USED: spatch, Photoshop 4.0 (for bitmaps), vim 5.1 RENDER TIME: 113 mins HARDWARE USED: PII-233 with 128Mb (Wacom tablet in spatch - hmmm... tablet ) (its my friend's :( ) IMAGE DESCRIPTION: you know the cliche of the mirage in the desert? or dehydrated water? or fishes with guns... er... maybe that one is my imagination. Just in case you don't get it: the fellow in the thongs has been shot the rest pretty much follows DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: fish: spatch 1.5 foot & thong: spatch 1.5 water drops: chris colefax's spray include everything else: hand (vim 5.1) All the objects lie on a big cylinder which sticks out of a plane. The texture is bozo with a gradient normal "pattern". I finally worked out sPatch - its a little quirky, but if you can get used to it, it is really quite darn good. Took a while to work out that I had to turn up max_trace_level to even see thro' the glass bowl... And I turned off using blobs in the spray, too... with the blobs on, it took ~7 hours to do 400/600 lines
