TITLE: Fort Sand NAME: Bruce Johnson COUNTRY: US EMAIL: johnson@pharmacy.arizona.edu TOPIC: Water COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: fortsand.jpg RENDERER USED: Strata Vision3D v. 4.0 TOOLS USED: Aldus Superpaint for image maps, Photoshop for final conversion RENDER TIME: ~5hrs HARDWARE USED: PowerMac 7200/75 112 Mb memory IMAGE DESCRIPTION: After defending it's inhabitants from imaginary foes all day, the seashell cannons of Fort Sand stand mute before its final adversary, the afternoon tide. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: My first IRTC image, this was a major learning experience since it was also my first major project with StrataVision. The castle is a real simple model, most of the work was getting the shells to look right (they're done using the sweep modeler) and wrestling with the sand/water interface. Too bad the picture's so small, there's lots of detail that is lost, not to mention hidden...there's sand in the bucket that I carefully modeled, then decided the bucket looked better tilted away... While the source file for this is waaay too big to post (~9mb) I can give the shells and other shapes in Strata format to anyone who really wishes them... The November 98 issue of MacAddict, BTW, has the full version of StrataVision3D 4.0 in it, for free. A very good mac modeling and rendering program...
