===== From xeo@home.com: very good scene! The only thing I would do is make the sun a volumetric light source, so it would make the scene look a little more 'dry', plus it would be in a perfect spot, behind the windmill, for the 'sunrays' to shine out. ===== From jerry@hoboes.com: The birds and kangaroos are quite well done. Just CSG's? I'll have to take a look at them! Your textures are a bit too clean for the outback (or any rural area), especially the tank. And what's the orange vegetation? Your objects are all really well done; judging from the rendering time, you could certainly afford to use some slightly more complex textures :*) ===== From Sean_Hamilton@amrcorp.com: I like the theme in this one, and I like the picture we've been given of life in another climate/culture. ===== From jasondinger@hotmail.com: wow! all hand-coded? this is undeniable proof of what amazing pictures you can make with POV-Ray!! this is excellent! my hat is off to you! ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: The cockatoos and kangas are incredibly well done, as far as modelling, texturing, and character development. Very cool theme. Windmill itself is too obviously CSG. ===== From amason@cs.uct.ac.za: hey, I like this one. water in trough is nice. models are good; better birds by far than my picture ;) mood is good although lighting could be more convincing and more dramatic; for example if it was a photo then I would expect the tower to be in silhouette? ===== From vogelap@email.uc.edu: Somewhat sterile. ===== From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de: A very nice, atmospheric image. The sun with its glare looks really good, just like the sun in movie shots from the desert. Are the outbacks really that orange color? ===== From johnson@pharmacy.arizona.edu: For 'simple' csg shapes, the birds are quite good. ===== From karl@pemail.net: Interestnig sun effects ===== From Varyk@aol.com: wonderful...sun, sky and cloud ideas work great, even has cloud shadows o= n the distant plain not usually seen in standard skysphere-with bozo clou= ds. Wheeling flocks of cockatoos...what a concept. ===== From djohnston@iname.com: The flock of birds and the group (I don' know the proper name) of kangaroos really add to the scene, as they give the eye more to see, all the while adding to the story. I also like the contrast in colors between the sky and the land. Good Job. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: In a word, stunning! You can just hear the creaky windmill and the flapping wings. In spite of the "crude CSG" the animals look terrific. The sun glinting off the windmill blade, and the windmill shadow over the terrain are superb. Water trough texture needs a little work: I cannnot tell if it's meant to be a rusty iron or a dirty concrete texture (why would the green bands repeat every 12-feet?). The overall color saturation is slightly intense for me (particularly at the distant mountain/flatland interface, where they should blend more). I loaded the image into a paint program and reduced saturation by 60 percent, and prefer the result (it even looks great in black & white!). Fascinating theme and image. ===== From chipr@niestu.com: Good use of color. There was a bit more green in the trough than I expected, both along the sides and in the reflections. The modeling on the roos is perfect--no hint of the fact that they're simplified. ===== From r@tk156239.telekabel.at: Great picture! The idea with the sun is also great. Notable for composition
