TITLE: Canal Lock in Springtime NAME: Nigel Briggs COUNTRY: England EMAIL: NBriggs@energis.co.uk WEBPAGE: http://mudhole.spodnet.uk.com/~jinx/index.htm TOPIC: Water COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: 1j_canal.jpg RENDERER USED: PoV-Ray (Win) 3.1.b TOOLS USED: LParser RENDER TIME: 2h 56m HARDWARE USED: P90 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A view of a British Narrow Canal Lock in spring time, framed by a backdrop of trees and hills. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The still water is simply flat boxes with the "wrinkle" bump-map. The trees are basic L-Systems, created with Laurens Lapre's LSystem (which I've finally figured out how to use). The hills are height-fields created using PoV. The moving water is a series of cylinders and boxes, covered by various pigment maps (wood and gradient), and a mass of blob-constructs to create the bubbles. And as I couldn't be bothered to do a decent sky and background, I used fog to hide the distance... I couldn't think of a decent name for the lock, so I thought "what the heck" and used my own surname (hows that for personalized?!)
