For those who know elglish as a second language, a stove has four elements: 2 large elements and 2 small elements. Don't groan it's meant to be more origional than funny. ;) This is my second entry to the IRTC and my first attempt to make something look semi-realastic as opposed to cartoonish (FROG.MPG). The Teapot is from the Persistence Of Vision raytracer version 2.0 sample file. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image was created in between my real work: I'm a student at the University of Victoria working full time for a company as a Software Tester testing MS Visual Basic for Applications. Everything was modelled in PovRay for Windows from pencil sketches and drawings at lunch times. The one block I hit my head against for a while was how to model the rings of the stove. It finally came to me when I recalled what I learned in first year Calculas: Polar co-ordinates. Duh! So I downloaded a simple graphic program, did a copy screen command and thickened the line by pasting a copy of it over and over again. I would have rather the "steps" in the graph I used be more frequent as you can still notice angles in the elements rather than a smooth shape. But time was a factor. I'd have rather spent more time on the scene but time is precious these days. If I had more to spend on it I would have created cupboards for the cabinets, a sink just offscreen, a toaster, and perhaps some knives hanging of the wall. But I'm lucky to have even completed the stove and a simple kitchen scene before the end date. Notice the time on the clock by the way. 8th month, 31st day, of 98. Oh and my initials too. I have always prefered it when a signatre is hidden in the image rather than plastered at the bottom of the screen.
