EMAIL: spanky@wpi.edu NAME: John D. Stevens TOPIC: Nature COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT TITLE: Terraform Penumbra WEBPAGE: http://davis.wpi.edu/~spanky/ COUNTRY: USA RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.0 TOOLS USED: Form 0.5a RENDER TIME: 1 hour 27 minutes 16 seconds HARDWARE USED: AMD K6 233 w/48 MB EDO RAM DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I used the same techniques as I did in "Frozen Utopia" working background to foreground. I swear to god it took me forever to make things in this scene look right. As it stands, the deadline for this competition hit before I could finish working on the foreground plants, which I would have preferred being a chalky pinkish/salmon color, but oh well. Now this scene ends up looking like something out of a Carl Sagan dream about terraforming Mars. I used Form again for the architecture on the mountain(this program is fun), and the plants were converted from .3ds files using Crossroads, but 95% of the scene is POV-Ray script excitement. By the way, POV-Ray's renderer rocks my world.
