JPGFILE: anotter.jpg ZIPFILE: anotter.zip RENDERER USED: POVRay 3.0 for Windows TOOLS USED: Moray for Windows, POVRay 3.0 for Windows, Photoshop RENDER TIME: 30 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 100, 32 MB RAM, Matrox Millenium w/2MB WRAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: An otter cruising lazily through the clear, blue water... DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I created the otter by using Moray to place most of the shapes, then exported to POV and made them into a blob. I had to do a heck of a lot of hand-tweaking in the POV editor until it looked right. All of the textures were done by hand in the POV editor (except for the rocks -- from "stones.inc"). I used Photoshop to create the height-field for the seafloor (riverbed?) by simply using "Filter|Render|Clouds" with black and white. The color map was made in POV. The bubbles were placed using Moray (mostly). The stones were made in Moray, then positioned in POV. The water effect was achieved with a translucent blue-green plane, with caustics and refraction turned on, and using the "spotted" normal modifier. I was going to put litter in the water for realism, but decided "my world" was going to be clean. :)
