JPGFILE: eclipse2.jpg ZIPFILE: eclipse2.zip RENDERER USED: POVRay TOOLS USED: Moray RENDER TIME: 1.5 hr, more or less HARDWARE USED: Pentium (Not sure of speed, sorry ) IMAGE DESCRIPTION: An eclipse, somewhere by the water. Years ago, when I was in grade 8, I was allowed to leave school early one day to come home and view an extremely rare total eclipse of the sun. It was one of the moments I remember most clearly. When I saw that this month's topic was night, I didn't want to do a standard night type scene, so I made one of where night occurs in the middle of the day. The telescope has a filter on it, so don't worry that "looking at the sun can make you go bling." (my anwser on a Grade 6 Science test :) DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This is my first submission and only my second real scene. It was made 100 0n Moray, and rendered with POVRay. The basic layout was first created, and modified a lot. The telescope is my real pride in this image. I used a retailer's webpage to design it, and created it in Moray. The telescope object is available as an .mdl on the Moray website. The eclipse itself was added later, and the whole thing was rendered. And edited, and rerendered. And edited, and rerendered. And Again. Hence, the 2c. As this is only my 2nd real scene my goal isn't really to win. I want to get better (and not to come in last). In this spirit, if you comment, please don't say "the sky looks bad", but tell me what is wrong, so I can learn how to fix it. I learned a lot with this image. Well worth it, and I'm hooked on raytracing now :) The .zip file includes the POVRay source generated by Moray, and the Moray .mdl scene.
