EMAIL: woehrle@gfai.de NAME: Tim Woehrle TOPIC: Magic COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: Birgitt turned into a demon! COUNTRY: Berlin, Germany RENDERER USED: Povray 3.0 TOOLS USED: Corel PhotoPaint for my wive's picture, TerrainMaker for the heightfield RENDER TIME: 3 h 17 min HARDWARE USED: Pentium-200, 32MB IMAGE DESCRIPTION: How could that happen? My lovely wive Birgitt turned into an evil demon and appears in an crystall ball of a wizard in a different world! My attention was to build the study room of a mage with a gloomy, mysterious atmosphere. The idea of the crystal ball came later, when I thought that some books were not enough. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Most of the picture is good old CSG, handmade. The misty landscape outside is a heightfield with some blue fog, generated with that useful little tool TerrainMaker. I've find out that a glass color with a filter value greater than 1 gives a bright, shiny effect, and I've used that for the laterns. The crystal ball is a combination of a thin, clear glass sphere and a smaller sphere of balck glass with a hole in its front. The image is located in that hole. It is a nasty fake of Birgitts beautiful face, which I made on a long, dark evening with PhotoPaint. But don't worry, she forgave me (hopefully)! Tim
