TITLE: The Magnificent Gatini COUNTRY: France WEBPAGE: www.geocities.com/vienna/7709 RENDERER USED: Povray 3.02 TOOLS USED: Blob Sculptor 2.0a, sPatch RENDER TIME: 1h19' HARDWARE USED: P200 w/ 32Mb Ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: "And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, The Worrrld Famous Billo Gatini is going to turn this plain white rabbit into a Wooonderrrful White Bird. (please note that this show is provided as-is and that unexpected results may occur without involving the Magnnnnificent Wizarrrrd's responsibility by any means, even if this goes against the law)." In fact, the idea of this scene with its two characters came to my mind quite quickly. A week away from my pov-machine let me time enough to improve many details. But bringing all my ideas to life was not as easy as it first seemed, and dealing with characters remains a hard business! DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: As usual, everything was designed by hand with CSG, except this time the hands of the magician I used Blob Sculptor to model, and the face made with sPatch. The "thing" part of the rabbit uses a simple bozo pigment with hard crackle normals, as the "regular" part uses crand graininess. The wizard's suit uses a new technique to render sprangles: tiny crackles with very high phong (to resist anti-aliasing) and phong_size (to give very directional brightness). Hard to tune, but I like it. The turban and beard are both made with Julia fractals.
