DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The lens-flare, tree, and wizard were all done using plug-ins available on the web. The spiral of "dust" was done using a few #while loops, adjusting each loop for gravity. Over twenty-thousand objects were used in the spiral alone! (Okay, maybe that was overkill). The flying mountains were intersections of two height-fields: one right-side-up and one up-side-down. A light fog helped to enhance the feeling of distance. Both the boat and the wizards cloak are bezier patches designed in sPatch, but the distance makes the details on them pretty much invisible. Everything else was done by hand! All the textures, all the placements of objects, etc. I don't have anything against modellers, but they just don't work for me!
